Saint Basil of Ostrog Parish
The parish dedicated to Saint Basil of Ostrog is located in the Paris suburb of Pierrefitte. The Western European Diocese made the decision to establish a new place of worship, and for that purpose, land was purchased in September 2021. At that time, the Western European Diocese was headed by Bishop Luka Kovačević, who fell asleep in the Lord on December 17, 2021. On October 9, 2022, Bishop Justin Jeremić was enthroned as the new bishop of the Western European Diocese. By early November, work had begun on the renovation of the existing buildings and the preparation of facilities for liturgical use, as well as the establishment of a chapel and a parish dedicated to Saint Basil of Ostrog. His Grace, Bishop Justin, Bishop of Western Europe and Paris, on November 21, the Feast of the Synaxis of the Archangel Michael and all the Bodiless Powers, ordained Reader Slavko Pavlović to the diaconate, and later, on December 24, to the priesthood, appointing him to serve in the newly established Parish of Saint Basil of Ostrog in Pierrefitte. The chapel was prepared for liturgical use on January 5, 2023, and the first Divine Liturgy was celebrated the following day — on Christmas Eve. Since then, regular services have been held in the newly established chapel, and the spiritual needs of the large Orthodox community in the surrounding area are being met. To this day, almost all the buildings on the property have been renovated and dedicated to the service of the parish and the Western European Diocese. Through the efforts of Bishop Justin, a project for the construction of the Church of Saint Basil has been launched, and the preparations are actively underway. The design of the future Church of Saint Basil of Ostrog can be seen on this page, and everyone is invited to take part and contribute to its construction through their support and donations.
